Thoughts on GREEN

*Green is restful to the eye. Studies show that a green environment can reduce fatigue.

*Green is created out of a mixture of yellow and blue.

*The word green is closely related to the Old English verb growan, “to grow”.

*Green is a slang term for $$money$$.

*Green can represent nature, growth, hope, youth, sickness, health, go, Islam, environment, & envy.

* In the dark ages many people thought the Devil was Green.

*In advertising companies use green, to sell environmentally friendly products.

*In the book The Wonderful World Of Oz, everyone in the Emerald City wears tinted glasses to make everything look green.

*Chlorophyll is what makes planets green.

*Green animals include frogs, toads, lizards, turtles, amphibians, snakes, alligators, crocodiles, parrots, caterpillars, grass hoppers & prating mantises.

*Emerald is the name of a color, but an emerald can be many different shades of green.

*The Libyan Flag is completely green.

* There's no such thing as too much GREEN?!?

the Un-Talent Show

Saturday was a ton of fun for our ward at the Untalented show. Everyone did such a great job of performing and organizing a fantastic evening. There were magic acts, synchronized swimming, fiddling, and lip syncing, to name just a few of things. I participated in a Hip hop/ Cheer/ Scottish routine with the rest of the RS presidency; which included a pretty impressive stunt. Amie came down for the weekend and put together a cute little number; Andrew, Kaylee, Janet and Ben all did the UpSiDe DoWn Hokey Pokey. I was back stage laughing so hard I almost peed my pants.

But the big surprise (at least for me) was Tom's Solo!! That's right...Tom participated with the young Men's presidency in an American Idol spoof, and he Sang "Once there was a Snowman" for the entire ward! For anyone who knows Tom you can understand what a big deal this was for him, he was so nervous that day and could barley talk to anyone.

Who knows what's next for him now, ...maybe a talk in sacrament?!?!

On your mark, get set, GO!

You might be asking yourself "what in the world, would posses four very busy moms to train and plan on running a half Marathon?"

I'm asking myself that same question. But Kelly, Janet, Kate and I are committed! Jane is helping us train and hopefully in four months we will be ready for the race in Bryce Canyon. This was our first Saturday run and I can't believe I actually did all five miles ...

....with out needing an ambulance.

This first picture shows us, just waking up and feeling cold and tired...

...but after the run you can see we are on a natural high (it wouldn't be until the next day that the achy muscles take over and we are cursing the name Jane, for getting us into this mess).

Seriously, I am so excited to get into shape and do something extraordinary like this. Thank you Trainer Jane!

Airplanes

I wanted to take the kids as close as I could to the runway to watch the planes take off. Amie and Andrew came with to play with the kids. Some one told me about a place you could park and watch the planes takeoff and land, but we couldn't find it. So we ended up across the street at an office building, on a little patch of grass. We checked out a book from the library, about how airplanes work. It was fun and different.

Geez Mom! I'm soaked!

Kaylee got into the bath tub while I was doing some chores around the house. I told her not to get out of the bath until I came in to help her with her hair (washing her hair can be hard since it's so long). I guess laundry can be relaxing because, while folding socks on the my bed I took a little nap. When I woke up it had been 25 minutes since Kaylee got into the tub.

Kaylee- "Finally! I'm really bored."

Mom- "Did it seem like I forgot you?"

Kaylee- "Yes, where have you been, getting the mail or something?"

Mom- " Sorry, I fell asleep."

Kaylee- "Geez mom, now I'm really soaked! It's gonna take like 7 minutes for me to get dry!"

Kids Glow in the Dark

This morning, Warner really made my day a little brighter. He is so sweet and still figuring out the right words to use. He was so excited to tell me that he had figured something out.

Warner- "Mom I glow in the dark!"


Me- (thinking he was being silly) "Oh, you can, wow!


Warner- " I'm always glowing, glowing, all the night."


Me- " What are you talking about, you silly boy?"


Warner- "You know mom, its' like I'm getting bigger and bigger, I'm just glowing all night, when it's dark."

Library

This was only our second time going to the library, the first time was for a class on picking the right books. So we felt pretty brave to venture out with Xander, into a place that is supposed to be quiet. It was so hard for Xan to stay settled down and he was good, but all over the place. Poking his head in between books and climbing on the shelves.I thought for sure they were going to cut up our library cards and ask us to leave.

Kaylee is getting so much better at reading and her excitement seems to be contagious, because Warner wants to read now too. I am so proud of them. The key, I think was letting her pick her own books (which oddly enough always end up to be about a princess!)

When we were finally ready to check out.. of course we lost the kids library cards and Kaylee left one book the was due that day, at school we are on track break and can not get it for another four weeks). So we held up the whole line as we got new cards and had to renew Kaylee's missing book. The guy who was checking us out hands me the receipt and tells me when they're due, and I realize that Xander, who is sitting on the counter (finally being good) and waiting, but he is holding the little board book that he wants to take home. So I ask the guy if he got that one, and he looks at the line behind me and gives me a look like "you have got to be kidding me," and I give him a look like "you have got tot be kidding me." So I try to pry the book away from Xan, but he has got a death grip on it. I look back at the guy who's got a scanning gun and could easily reach over and scan the book while the screaming toddler holds it, making every one's life happy. But he just lifts his eyebrows slightly and waits. Xander is in hysterics now, on the floor hitting his head, and the security comes over to find out want crazy parents brought this beast in the library, but I didn't see a "no beasts allowed" sign posted out side, so I'm thinking, they can't really throw us out,.. can they? Well anyways, the kids are lucky that we have to go back to the library to return the books, otherwise they may never step foot in one again.
