The kids swam for a few hours on Sunday and unfortunately got a little pink, but as you can see, they seem to be enjoying themselves.

When we got home on Sunday night we rubbed Aloe lotion on them. The next day Kaylee and Warner had a healthy tan, but Xander was redder and more sore than they day before, he began to have thick blisters on his arms and didn't wear a shirt the whole day. Tuesday morning, Xander woke up with a swollen neck and arms as if he were constantly flexing his huge muscles. He also had an itchy rash spreading to places were the sun didn't shine. I took him to the ER thinking he was having a reaction to something and sure enough he was. The nurses hooked him up with IV tubes, while the doctors ran blood and urine tests. Xander didn't cry one bit while they drew blood and poked at him; in fact, he called the tubes, needles, and tape, his "robot arm" which even though he couldn't bend his arm, was apparently really cool. SO...After several hours, they discovered the allergy was to the sun. I could not believe it.

What a tuff little guy! What a condition to have where we live. Dang!
I can't believe he's allergic to the sun! That's gonna be a tough one, for any young child it would be. I hope he outgrows it for his sake and yours.
Wow, sorry about the allergy! Poor little guy! But if I know you, you will find a way for him to have just as much fun in the sun as the other kids. You never were one to shy away from a challenge. :)
Man you guys seriously can't catch a break. I'm really sorry. It sounds so simple, but I'm sure it will be a huge headache!
Allergic to the SUN? In VEGAS? You are a trooper. So is Xander. I'm praying for you guys.
Oh my gosh...that happened to me in High School. Got too much sun and my forehead swelled up and blistered. It only happened twice. Something that just occurred to me as I was thinking how this happens all so suddenly, I thought of my aromatherapy training. There are certain essential oils that are photo toxic that can cause reactions like this and worse. It's worth knowing about. Hope he grows out of it quickly.
Chad and I are having a going away party on May 29th at 7:00 at my parent's house. We would love to see you before we go. Let me know if you can make it!
